The air source device and pneumatic auxiliary components are two indispensable and important parts of the pneumatic system. The air source device provides the system with sufficient clean, dry compressed air with a certain pressure and flow rate. Pneumatic auxiliary components are essential for component connection, enhancing system reliability, service life and improving the working environment, etc.

1. Gas source device

The air source device is the part that converts the mechanical energy output by the prime mover into the pressure energy of air to provide power for the pneumatic transmission system. The performance of this part directly affects whether the pneumatic transmission system can work normally. A general air source device usually consists of the following parts: an air compressor, devices and equipment for storing and purifying air, and a pipeline system for transmitting compressed air. The main equipment of the air source device is the air compressor. Under normal circumstances, an air compressor and some auxiliary pneumatic components form an air pump to generate a power air source.

An air compressor is a device that generates and conveys compressed air. It converts mechanical energy into the pressure energy of gas and is generally driven by an electric motor. According to their different working principles, they can be classified into two types: positive displacement type and dynamic type. Generally, positive displacement air compressors are adopted. The positive displacement air compressor completes the process of air intake and compression by periodically changing the volume of the cylinder through the movement of its components.

Selection of air compressors: The selection of air compressors should be based on two parameters, namely the working pressure and flow rate required by the pneumatic transmission system. The working pressure required by a general pneumatic system is 0.5 to 0.8MPa. Therefore, a low-pressure air compressor with a rated exhaust pressure of 0.7 to 1MPa is selected.

The supply volume (free flow)qz of an air compressor or air station can be estimated by the following formula:

The air supply volume of the air compressor

In the formula, qimax is the th within the system; The maximum free air consumption of the treatment equipment (m ³ /s); n is the total number of pneumatic devices used in the system; φ is the utilization coefficient; K is the leakage loss coefficient; K is the reserve coefficient.

Although the compressed air output by the air compressor can meet certain pressure and flow requirements, it cannot be directly used by pneumatic devices. Impurities and moisture in the compressed air must be removed before it can be used in pneumatic devices.

2. Pneumatic auxiliary components

Auxiliary components, including filters, oil misters, mufflers, pipes and pipe fittings, and other auxiliary components, are indispensable parts to ensure the normal operation of the pneumatic transmission system.

Filters are used to remove impurities such as oil, moisture, and dust from compressed air. An oil mist lubricator is a special oil injection device. It can atomize lubricating oil and let it enter the components that need lubrication along with the airflow. There, the airflow hits the wall, causing the lubricating oil to adhere to the components and achieve the purpose of lubrication. In pneumatic systems, the water separator and air filter, pressure reducing valve, and oil mist lubricator are often used in combination, which is called a pneumatic three-piece set. The installation sequence is shown in Figure .

A muffler is a device that reduces the speed and power of gas by means of damping or increasing the exhaust area, aiming to lower noise. Commonly used mufflers include absorption type, expansion interference type, and expansion interference absorption type.

The air source treatment component is a basic component of the pneumatic control system. Its function is to remove impurities and condensate water contained in the compressed air and regulate and maintain a constant working pressure. When in use, it is necessary to frequently check the water level of the condensate water in the filter. Before it exceeds the maximum mark, it must be drained to prevent it from being re-sucked in.
