Pneumatic Cylinder Basic Conception:
The pneumatic cylinder is a metal part that guides the piston to carry out linear reciprocating motion in the cylinder, whose method that converts the energy of compressed air through the cylinder block into mechanical energy.(The gas drives the piston of the cylinder)
Application of pneumatic cylinder:
-Printing (tension control),
-Semiconductor (spot welder, chip grinding),
-Automation control, robotics, etc.
Type of pneumatic cylinder:
Reciprocating Linear motion / Reciprocating swing motion.
Reciprocating linear motion of the pneumatic cylinder can be divided into single acting pneumatic cylinder, double acting pneumatic cylinder, diaphragm type cylinder and impact cylinder.
Single acting pneumatic cylinder: Only one end has a piston rod. The compressed air pushes the piston from one side to produce thrust out, by spring or dead weight return.
Double acting pneumatic cylinder: alternately drive the compressed air from both sides of the piston, then it outputs force in one or both directions.
Diaphragm cylinder: Instead of a piston, a diaphragm produces force in only one direction and is returned with a spring. Its sealing performance is good, but the travel is short.
Impact cylinder: This is a new type of component that converts the pressure of the compressed air into the kinetic energy of the piston at high speed (10 ~ 20 m/s).
Pneumatic Cylinder Structure:
-The Cylinder
The inner diameter of the cylinder represents the output force of the cylinder. The piston should reciprocate smoothly in the cylinder, and the surface roughness of the inner surface of the cylinder should reach Ra0.8μ
Joosung pneumatic cylinder (CM2 type) has own sealing combination to achieve two-way sealing. No nut and the piston is linked by pressure riveting with the rod.
-The Top Lid
The end cover is provided with an inlet and exhaust port, and some are also provided with a buffer mechanism in the end cover. The end cover of the rod side is provided with a sealing ring and a dustproof ring to prevent air leakage from the piston rod and prevent external dust from mixing into the cylinder. The rod side end cover is provided with a guide sleeve to improve the steering accuracy of the cylinder, bear a small amount of lateral load on the piston rod, reduce the downward bending when the piston rod stretches out, and extend the service life of the cylinder.Guide sleeves are usually made of sintered oil-bearing alloys and forward tipped copper castings.Microcylinders are made of brass.
-The Piston
The piston is a pressure fitting in the cylinder. In order to prevent the left and right chambers of the piston from channeling each other, a piston sealing ring is provided. The wear ring on the piston can improve the direction of the cylinder, reduce the wear of the piston sealing ring, reduce the friction resistance. The wear-resistant ring is made of polyurethane, polytetrafluoroethylene, synthetic resin and other materials. The width of the piston is determined by the size of the sealing ring and the necessary length of the sliding section. If the sliding part is too short, it is easy to cause early wear and jam.The piston is usually made of aluminum alloy and cast iron, and the piston in small cylinders is made of brass.
-The Piston Rod
Piston rod is the most important bearing part in cylinder, which is made in carbon steel with surface hard chromium plated or use stainless steel to prevent corrosion, so that to improve the wear resistance of the sealing.
-The Sealing
Rotary or reciprocating movement of the component seal is called the dynamic seal, and its static part is called the static seal.
-The Lubrication
Most of Pneumatic cylinder works with the oil mist in the compressed air to lubricate the piston, and other is called as free lubrication cylinder. Joosung's pneumatic cylinders no require F.R.L to lubricating oil into the cylinders.
